Light Hill

A new hike for me. About 10 minutes from my place there is open space and trails on Light Hill. I don’t know why I never went there before except there are soooooo many good hikes around here! The views are stunning from above Old Snowmass towards the Snowmass Ski area and all the way to Mt. Sopris including Capitol Peak.

Skiing Memorial Day weekend!

Aspen Mountain (aka Ajax) is open for the weekend!!! Still so much snow. Today a paraglider floated gently above the skiers. Yesterday I saw a gorilla(?) in the tree at the top of Lift Three – how long has that been there? I have never seen it before (see photo top right in tree) and suspect it is usually buried in snow. Friday I saw a fox cross the run by the base of Lift Three – I am told she has babies 🙂 A great weekend! I think if you left-click the photos you can zoom them.

More great reasons to live here!

Dandelion Days and beer by the river…..  Last weekend Carbondale had the annual Dandelion Days festival. I love a town that celebrates dandelions! Dandelion beer, wine and even dandelion salad was available. Great free music and great eco-friendly vendors including one that gave away free seeds for lots of different veggies! Today I stopped in at my favourite summer pub – the Riverside in Basalt – for a beer by the Frying Pan river. The Frying Pan is gold medal fly fishing as is the Roaring Fork. Their confluence is just steps away from the below photo 🙂

Another postcard moment….

Out showing property at Old Snowmass I just had to stop and take this photo! Mount Sopris is the three peaks furtherest to the right then coming back there to the left we can almost see Capitol but not quite. So beautiful here.

Highlands Bowl slide?

Skiing at Aspen Mountain I looked across to the Highlands Bowl and am wondering if there was a slide? Aspen Highlands lifts are closed now but quite a few people will hike for their turns. Zooming these photos shows something right of center – you decide 🙂

Why do I live here in the Roaring Fork Valley?

Sure it is expensive compared to many places….. today driving up to go skiing I took this photo at the entrance to my subdivision looking upvalley. I have lived in the same house near Basalt for 14 years and am still so in love with these views 🙂

Living in a postcard

Just driving up to Snowmass Village I was yet again stunned by the sheer beauty of where we live. Capitol Peak and Mount Daly are on the right of the picture.

The world’s first double halfpipe?

It has been really fascinating to watch the snowcats dismantle all the huge X-Games jumps and 22 foot superpipe in order to construct what may be the world’s first double pipe. It is being built for Red Bull. Now everyone will want one 🙂
