The Last Rafting Trip of the Season….

Mid October and the time has come for the last rafting trip for this summer. Taking advantage of the beautiful weather we headed to Utah. We put in at the old Dewey Bridge and shuttled the trailers to Takeout Beach. This is one of my favourite stretches of the Colorado River and I can’t believe it’s been about 18 months since I was last here. We pretty much had the river to ourselves and camped opposite Onion Creek on a lovely sandy beach where we spent a lazy layover day. The campsite had stunning views of Castle Valley including Fisher Towers and the snowy peaks of La Sal mountains in the background. The weather held and we were really glad we went. I have never been down here at this time of year before. The river is low and running slowly and the fall colours are beautiful – this may become an annual tradition!

About Bronwyn

Hi. I moved to the Aspen area from Australia in 1997 and have a daughter born right here in Aspen in 2000. I teach skiing (for the past eighteen seasons) and am a Real Estate Advisor with Engel & Völkers Roaring Fork.. I love to ski, snowboard, horse-ride, raft, and hike with our dog Sheila. This valley offers so much and one day I may also take up golf or fishing!
